Dr. Woodall Does the Worm & Rocky Welcomes Students Back To School

Rocky's back-to-school assembly was full of school spirit, from freshman to seniors every class showed up to make this back-to-school assembly a special one.

It’s back to school, Rocky! And it definitely feels like it now! This Friday, August 23rd the RMHS community gathered in the gym for a back to school assembly. School spirit was abound, even so much that Dr. Woodall did the worm! RMHS STUCO put on an assembly incoming freshman will be sure to remember forever.

The day started out with a bang! No, seriously. Rocky’s percussion could be seen, and heard, drumming through the halls during the passing period separating 1st and 2nd period. From then on the assembly only got wilder. Dr. Woodall began by using his usual “welcome back Rocky” speech but instead began to switch it up. He began by talking about his own experiences with assemblies during high school, and about how he had to participate in one and during his freedance, he tried to do the worm. Needless to say, it did not go well then. To make up for it, Dr. Woodall made the brave decision to try it again - and succeeded!

School spirit was everywhere as Rocky welcomed its new Spirit Leaders for the 2020-2021 school year, as well as its new MCs, Quinn, Izzy, and Logan, who led RMHS through the first assembly of the 2019-2020 school year. Rocky’s newest additions, RMHS freshmen were given a special intro, getting to run through the gym to their seats, and almost everyone wore their ‘Together As One’ shirts to show school pride! The school definitely gave off an air of unity as all the classes joined together to do the rollercoaster - the first time for the class of 2023.

Rocky’s new homecoming theme was unveiled - “My Big Fat Greek Homecoming” which gained a rather mixed reaction among the classes. With confusion surrounding the homecoming theme, it’s unsure who will show up to the dance this year.

The dance, cheer, and PEERs performed their back to school dances and cheers to hype Rocky up and certainly succeeded, as evidenced by the cheers from the audience.

RMHS spirit band played, and the Prima Voce women’s choir sang the National Anthem. Just as well, Rocky had its first $5 Friday for this school year, and yes, the winner actually wore their spirit gear!
